Andrew Bede Jeselnick

May 14, 2014

Andrew Bede Jeselnick, 61, of Bethel Park, died Sunday, May 11, 2014.
Originally from St. Marys, Andy was a resident of Pittsburgh for the last 17 years… the last 10 at Bethel Retirement.
Andy graduated from St. Marys Area High School, and attended Lock Haven and Penn State Universities. Most significantly, he was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged after serving in the United States and in the Philippines in the early 1970s.
In his teenage years Andy would hang out with friends at the local store, Vito's, and always had candy money for his younger brothers and sisters. He was an exceptional swimmer and diver. While living in Harrisburg, Andy worked as a baker; though he didn't like to rise early, he was very hard working and loved his job. He was a hunter and sharpshooter, serving on the drill team for ROTC while at Penn State. He loved Elvis, science fiction, chess, and anything having to do with John F. Kennedy.
Andy was a quiet soul, gentle, kind and never one to show anger. He will be remembered for his generosity and unfailing acceptance of life's circumstances.
Andrew was the fifth of 12 children of Yolanda and the late Edward Jeselnick. He is survived by his loving mother, Yolanda Jeselnick; devoted sister Anne (Christopher) Wildfire; brother James (Mary Kay) Jeselnick; sister-in-law Barbara Jeselnick; Fr. Stephen Jeselnick; Mary Jo (Jim) Ford; Paul Jeselnick (Andrew Strickland); Julia Jeselnick; Mark Jeselnick; Gregory (Angela) Jeselnick; Dona (Paul) Lewis; and close family friend, Jamie Boswell.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward, and brothers John and Thomas. Andy loved his nephews and nieces and attending their various activities. He had a special relationship with his grandfather, Leonard, "Bucky" Boland who called Andy "Blackie" because of his jet black hair.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew Bede Jeselnick will be held on Saturday, May 31 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in St. Marys.
Friends are welcome to attend a memorial service that will be held at the Bethel Retirement Chapel, Thursday, May 29 at 7 p.m.
