Anthony James Assalone
Anthony James Assalone, 76, of Mt. Run Road, Penfield, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at home after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 28, 1934 in Weedville, son of the late Anthony James and Rose Assalone Sr. He married Catherine (Webb) Assalone on Nov. 22, 1958, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2010. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.He worked for Stackpole for 11 years and was a manager and driver for Muccio School Transportation for 20 years. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He is survived by a son, Edward and his wife Ashley Assalone of Grampian; a daughter, Susan and her husband Brian Roudybush of Penfield; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, with three more on the way; and two sisters, Antoinette Schatz of St. Marys and Carmella Sellers of Weedville. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Rucinski; and four brothers, Bill, Albert, Mike and Pat Assalone. A Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony James Assalone will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, with Fr. Thomas Tyler as celebrant.Military honors will be accorded by the Bennetts Valley Legion Post 978 Burial Detail.Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Force. There will be no visitation.
