Area Catholic churches taking up collection for Sandy relief

November 2, 2012

Please be advised that in response to the many individuals and parishes who have been inquiring, Most Rev. Lawrence Persico, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Erie, has authorized parishes to take a collection to support disaster relief services related to Hurricane Sandy. Pastors are free to choose the Sunday on which they will hold the collection. Donations will then be sent to the Diocese of Erie for distribution to organizations providing help on the ground in the areas most in need of relief. One hundred percent of the money collected will be donated.
