Artificial feeding contributing to elk problem in Weedville

WEEDVILLE - Thursday's meeting of the Jay Township Supervisors included a presentation by Pa. Wildlife Commission Officer Dody McDowell, who spoke on the increase in elk in the Weedville area, linking the occurrence to artificial or supplemental feeding and detailing the dangers it poses to animals and people alike.McDowell indicated the general consensus within the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) is that artificial feeding in the winter is one of the strongest contributing factors to the growing presence of elk in Weedville.
