Authority hopes to capitalize on emerging recycling market

March 8, 2012

The Elk County Solid Waste Authority wants to be part of the emerging market for recycling PET thermoform plastic and is currently looking into participating in a grant project that would result in them collecting the material and shipping it to a more high-tech facility across the state.
Elk County Recycling/Solid Waste Coordinator Bekki Titchner recently explained that the authority has the potential to be part of a $25,000 grant that the Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center received in hopes of developing a successful collection program for this type of plastic.
