Batiste T. "Kack" Franco

Batiste T. "Kack" Franco, 85, of 6478 Ridgway-Johnsonburg Rd., Johnsonburg, died Sunday morning, July 13, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 20, 1928 in Johnsonburg, son of Batiste and Frances Sirianni Franco.
On Oct. 31, 1950, he married Stephana C. "Steffie" LaFarr in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, and she survives.
He resided in Johnsonburg all his life and graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1946.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg. He played high school and Johnsonburg Shamrock football, he loved hunting, fishing, canoeing and a good card game. He loved building birdhouses and playing cards with his family.
He was a Korean War veteran. After graduating from the Army Cook School he served overseas as Sergeant First Class with Battery "A" 424th Field Artillery Battalion, U.S. Army.
He was employed by Penntech Papers of Johnsonburg for 44 years, retiring in 1991.
In addition to his wife at home, he is survived by three sons, Larry Franco and his wife Susie, Donald Franco and his wife Ann, and Bob Franco and his wife Diane, all of Johnsonburg; two daughters, Debbie, Mrs. Francis Addeo of Johnsonburg, and Fran, Mrs. Tate Miller of Ridgway; his grandchildren, Christopher Miller, Carey, Mrs. John P. MacDonald, Crista, Mrs. Cristofer Lombardo, Jamie, Mrs. Scott Shaffer, Kelly Addeo, Corey and Jessica Franco, Brian, Shara and Michelle Franco and Benjamin Franco and his wife Amber and Cheryl Franco; and great-grandchildren Max and McKenzie Miller, Olivia, Lucia and Mia Lombardo, Leo, Mary and Raphael MacDonald, Dominic Shaffer and Ella Franco.
He was the last member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Franco.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Batiste T. "Kack" Franco will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church on Thursday, July 17 at 10 a.m.
Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, Pastor.
Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 9:15 a.m..
