Benezette man charged in stabbing incident

Multiple charges have been filed against David J. Charles II, 22, of Benezette, who led police on a foot chase before being apprehended Tuesday.
Around 2 p.m. Tuesday, Patrolman Peter Largey of the St. Marys City Police identified Charles and a known juvenile walking on Ash Street and approached him, telling Charles that he needed to talk to him about a recent incident. According to an affidavit of probable cause, Charles, who was wanted for questioning in an aggravated assault incident, ran from police and disregarded commands to stop.
Charles was apprehended after about an hour with assistance from a conservation officer, State Police, Ridgway Borough Police and Johnsonburg Borough Police.
