Bernard A. Goodreau Jr., 81, of 72 Erie Ave., Apt. 203, St. Marys, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois after a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 24, 1932 in St. Marys, son of the late Bernard and Rosella McQuone Goodreau Sr.
In addition to St. Marys, he had also resided in Johnsonburg from 1955 until 2008. He attended St. Marys public schools and retired from Pure Carbon Company in 1995.
Mr. Goodreau was Catholic by faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose and enjoyed cooking, woodworking, the outdoors, and going to camp.
He is survived by three daughters, Jean Goodreau of Johnsonburg, Patti London and her husband Lonnie of Luthersburg, and Karen Matthews and her husband Lamare of Stump Creek; two sons, William Goodreau and his wife Cyndi of Ridgway and Robert B. Goodreau of St. Marys; and 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five sisters, Ruby Wortman of St. Marys, Donna Town Skelly and her husband Frank of Johnstown, Peggy Farabaugh of St. Marys, Susan Walker and her husband Bob of Clermont, and Kathy Bliss and her husband Don of St. Marys; and three brothers, Vincent â€śSkipâ€ť Goodreau and his wife Elaine of Odin, David Goodreau and his wife Pam of Waynesboro, and Paul Goodreau and his wife Ann of Erie.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Holli Matthews; one sister, Mary Alice Town; and three brothers, William Goodreau, and John and Kenneth Goodreau, both dying at childbirth.
Funeral services for Bernard A. Goodreau Jr. will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 8 at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemenâ€™s Burial Detail. Burial will be in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
