Elk County Tax Collection Committee (ETCC) member Dave Berteri addressed attendees at Thursday's meeting of the Jay Township Board of Supervisors regarding the calamitous contractual default of CENTAX, the firm employed by the county to collect and distribute earned income tax (EIT) monies following the passage of the state's Act 32, as well as the steps to be taken in moving forward.
Berteri, who is Jay Township's delegate with the ETCC, was present to update township residents on the status of the county's CENTAX woes and possible outcomes of an upcoming ETCC meeting in which it is expected that a replacement for CENTAX will be chosen.
"You've probably been hearing rumors about what's happening with that. Our tax collector, CENTAX, has been running into a lot of problems," Berteri said.
