Betty J. Hoffman

Betty J. Hoffman, 90, of 107 Beech Rd., St. Marys, died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie after complications from hip surgery.
She was born March 7, 1921, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Joseph P. and Irene Fritz Hoffman.
On June 26, 1948, in the Sacred Hearth Church, she married Leander A. Hoffman, who survives.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Sacred Heart Grade School and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1938.
She was co-owner, along with her husband, of Hoffman's Boulevard Service Station, where she served as a bookkeeper, and was a former employee of Sylvania and the former Home Telephone Company.
Mrs. Hoffman was a lifelong member of the Queen of the World Church, a member of the CD of A, Rosary/Altar Society, St. Anne's Society, and volunteered at the Elk Haven Nursing Home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many and will be deeply missed. She was caring, supportive and steadfast in all her relationships. She was a pillar of faith, a prayer warrior, and a devout Catholic.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Lori H. Schrieber (Daniel) of St. Marys; two sons, Joseph A. (Joe) Hoffman (Annabel) of Dallas, Texas and Jude L. Hoffman (Clare) of St. Marys; and four grandchildren, Meredith Hoffman, Natalie Hoffman, Patrick Hoffman and Julie Hoffman.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John J. Hoffman and William Hoffman. She was the last member of her immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Betty J. Hoffman will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church in St. Marys on Wednesday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Ferrick, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 169 Center St., St. Marys, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations, if desired, can be made to the Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Rd., St. Marys, PA 15857; or to the Elk County Catholic High School Indoor Guard, 600 Maurus St., St. Marys, PA 15857.
