Betty J. Hritz

Betty J. Hritz, 87, of Punxsutawney, died Monday, May 13, 2013.
Born November 3, 1925 in Punxsutawney, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Sophia (Sheofsky) Hritz.
She was a member of the Saint Peter and Paul Byzantine Church in Punxsutawney.  She was a member of the church choir.
Ms. Hritz worked for 32 years as the secretary in the business office of the administrators office at Punxsutawney Area High School from 1976 until her retirement in 2008.  Her prior employment included Sylvania, Jones Furniture and Wolf's Furniture.
She is survived by two brothers, Charles W. Hritz of St. Marys and George Hritz of Cheswick; one sister, Marie Hudock of Pittsburgh; a sister in-law, Rita Hritz of Chicago; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Annie Molnar, Agatha Pinchock, Sophie Knapick and Doris Cekovsky; four brothers, Peter, Michael, John and infant George Hritz.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney. A Parastas service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
A funeral liturgy for Betty J. Hritz will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at Saint Peter and Paul Byzantine Church, officiated by Father Simeon Sibenik.
Interment will follow at the Saints Peter and Paul Horatio Cemetery.
