Numerous business items were approved by the St. Marys Area School District school board during their recent meeting on Monday.
Among the items approved was a letter of agreement between the school district and Dickinson Mental Health Center for Family Based Mental Health (FBMH), a program used to develop and implement a cooperative relationship with the county's Children and Adolescent Service programs, providers, departments and school districts.
The board approved the Homestead and Farmstead Exclusion Resolution for 2011-12. The number of approved homesteads within the district is 5,783 and number of approved farmsteads is 26. The maximum real estate tax reduction for each property is $59.93.
Budgetary transfers as needed pending the district's final audit were also approved. The transfers will be presented to the board upon completion of the audit.
In accordance with the school district's policy manual, the unassigned general fund balance at the end of the 2010-11 school year will be maintained at a six percent level, with any excess monies going into the Capital Reserve Fund.
The bid for electrostatic locker painting at the high school was awarded to the lowest bidder, American Office Services, Inc. of Westlake, Ohio, in the amount of $11,940. Additional bidders included Alternative Electrostatic Inc. of Newton Square for $18,900, Electro-Kote from Irwin for $24,900, Elk County Drywall and Painting of St. Marys for $25,020 and Nu-Kote Electrostatic from Butler for $38,789.
Under student activities, the board approved for one student and the DECA Club advisor to attend the DECA Summer Officer Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. from July 11-15.
Changes were also approved for the cost of athletic ticket prices. Next year, tickets will cost $3 for adult admission and $2 for students, $30 for an adult all-season pass and $10 for a student all-season pass, and $10 for the all-season Loyalty Pass for individuals 65 years of age and older.
Board member John Healy stated that he was opposed to raising the student fee.
Rental fees for Dutch Country Stadium were approved for $200 per event and $400 for events with lights, and $100 for Berwind Park Baseball Field.
