The St. Marys Boys and Girls Club offers many activities for children and adults, and is looking to expand that range and acquire more volunteers to better serve area residents.
The venerable organization, which was established in 1923 by businessman and philanthropist William E. Hall, was essentially the first of its kind to be placed in a rural setting like St. Marys. St. Marys Girls and Boys Club Executive Director Tiffany Boschert began her new position on July 16. She said the club is a great place for area residents to be enriched and have fun.
“The Boys and Girls Club is extremely important to the area. It’s a place that school and youth can come and have fun, do recreational activities, and also be supervised,” Boschert said. “Our building is a community building—I would love to have more community members be part of the club. I encourage everyone to stop in and check it out.
“I am open for suggestions and new ideas. I would love to offer many new programs so we could continue to build on the great programs already at the Boys and Girls Club, but it would be great to see more area youth coming to the club. We offer so many programs and hope to bring new programs in—it would be great to see more children utilize the club.”
She said while the club will still have many of its usual offerings, she hopes to expand those based on feedback from area youth who visit the club. Additionally, she hopes to recruit new volunteers to help out in any capacity.
