ST. MARYS — The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch soccer team lost to the Bradford Lady Owls by a 3-2 score Friday afternoon at the SMAHS soccer field in the opening round of the Bucktail Tournament.
St. Marys will now take on Elk Catholic this morning at 10 a.m. in the consolation game while Bradford meets Ridgway at noon for the title contest.
Bradford was able to take a 3-0 lead after the first 40 minutes of play as they used their aggressive play and ball movement to their advantage.
St. Marys came out being more aggressive in the second half and played stronger defense.
The Lady Dutch were able to cut Bradford’s lead to 3-2 as Kaitlyn Barackman and Caley Keister scored for St. Marys.
Neither team scored in the final 20 minutes of play although the Lady Dutch had their opportunities to tie the game but were unable to get the ball in the net.
