Yes, a crowd of more than 300 can be silent.
This was evident Sunday evening at the start of an emotional candlelight vigil for Jarrett Costanzo and Olivia Douglas. These young children were killed in a Saturday traffic accident on Route 219 near Lantz Corners.
Organized by Mike Hulings of Kane on the Facebook social media site on the internet, the vigil featured testimonies to cousins Costanzo, 6, and Douglas, 12.
The 90-minute vigil was held at the football field at the Kane Middle School on Hemlock Avenue.
A similar vigil was held Sunday night at the baseball field near the Otto-Eldred school. Douglas, a Kane native who lived with her father in Eldred, was a sixth-grade student at the school. Her 10-year-old brother, Daniel, a fourth-grader at the same school, was seriously injured in the accident.
