Although the third annual Polar Sweet Express event hosted by CAPSEA, Inc. [Citizens Against Physical, Sexual and Emotional Abuse] is 10 months away, Executive Director Billie Jo Weyant has already begun making plans.
The event, sponsored by Ridgway BiLo and Northwest Savings Bank, is expected to be held in the beginning of February of 2013.
Last year's event held in the Franklin Center in St. Marys raised over $4,500 to assist in supplying abuse victims seeking shelter with basic necessities.
Considering all of the recent funding cuts the organization has had to face, Weyant says events like these are vital.
