Charles J. Schutz
Charles J. Schutz, 80, formerly of Brockway and a resident at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, died with his loving family at his side on Nov. 7, 2012 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center. He was born in St. Marys on June 26, 1932, the son of the late Jerome and Dorothy Dill Schutz. He married Mary Lou Renwick, who died on Sept. 27, 1965. Charlie was a member at St. Tobias Church in Brockway. He was a member of the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima, Brockway American Legion Post #95, Ridgway Elks Lodge #872; Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #3794; and a Fourth Degree Member of St. Martin of Tours Assembly. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.Charlie also managed Brockway Little League Baseball for several years. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Pittsburgh Pirates fan and a Penn State fan. He had been employed at Airco Carbon as a Lab Technician in Quality Control. He is survived by two daughters, Debi (Gerald) Knisely of Reynoldsville, and Lisa (Mike) Kweder of Brockway; four sons, Kevin Schutz of Brockway, Jeff (Sue) Schutz of Ridgway, Brian (Susan) Schutz of Monaca, and Scott (Tracy) Schutz of Ft. Worth, Texas; two sisters, Grace (Pete) Yankovich of Ridgway and Louise (Chuck) Ashley of Sun City, Calif. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Schutz; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Schutz. A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles J. Schutz will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 at St. Tobias Church in Brockway, with Msgr. Charles Kaza officiating. Burial will take place at the St. Tobias Cemetery in Brockway. Full military honors will be accorded by by Parson-Marnatti Post #95 of the American Legion Saturday morning at the cemetery. Visitation will be held this evening, Friday, Nov. 9, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A vigil service will be held tonight at 8:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
