FOX TWP. – The Historical Society of St. Marys and Benzinger Township held its 51st annual banquet commemorating the Dec. 8, 1842 founding of Sanct Marienstadt on Sunday evening at The Red Fern in Fox Township, this year focusing on the culmination of the dream of historical society founder Charlie Schaut in establishing a permanent location for preserving the community's history.
That permanent location is coming to fruition in the form of a newly constructed building on Erie Avenue adjacent to the society's present location. Bill Bauer, who has served as project manager for the new building's construction, addressed attendees at the dinner to talk about the progress that has been made on the site.
