Christine I. “Dena” Dahms

Christine I. “Dena” Dahms, 92, of 266 Grove Ave., Ridgway, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Ridgway, the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Margaret Forester Steger.
She married John A. “Jack” Dahms on Feb. 14, 1943; he predeceased her on Aug. 19, 2005.
Mrs. Dahms was a lifelong Ridgway resident. She was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and staying abreast of current events and changes in the nursing profession. She was a Registered Nurse at Elk County General Hospital and Ridgway Community Nurses.
She is survived by three daughters, Christine M. Sanbeg (George) of South Plainfield, N.J.; Jacqueline L. Simons (Bruce) of Ridgway, and Nancy A. Osgood (Jay) of Ridgway; six grandchildren, Steven Sanbeg, Michael Sanbeg, Stephanie Grooms (Michael), Dena Sheehy (Noel), Michael Longhi (Amber), and Renee Thomas (John); five great-grandchildren, Justin Grooms, Amanda Grooms, Ethan Sanbeg, Erin Sheehy, and Lila Sheehy; a sister, Marcella Wonderly of Ridgway; a brother, Charles Steger of Ridgway; and by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Anna Green and Loretta Gier; and two brothers, Henry Stager and Edward Steger.
A Memorial Mass for Christine I. "Dena" Dahms will be celebrated at St. Leo’s Catholic Church on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Fr. Brian Vossler, pastor.
Interment will be in St. Leo’s Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home.
