Christmas in Kentucky founder Laura Kuntz, of St. Marys, recently returned from her annual trip to Beattyville, KY, where she helped distribute donated gifts to needy families.
"There are so many people that support this program year after year," Kuntz said. "I am often told how 'wonderful it is that I do this to help others.' My response is that I cannot possibly do this work without the caring and support of everyone in this area. I certainly can't afford to buy all of these gifts... but I CAN take these presents to people that I know appreciate all that is given to them as a part of the Christmas giving."
As part of the program, now in its 15th year, Kuntz works with close friend Diana Spurlock of Kentucky, who helps organize the event by contacting local families in need. Spurlock is also the coordinator of a local company, Daniel Boone Transit.
