City anticipates cut in 2012 CDBG funding

January 18, 2012

For the second consecutive year, the City of St. Marys is anticipating a decrease in its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding.
"It's been determined there will be another decrease in 2012; however, we don't have any figures as of yet," said City of St. Marys Community Development Block Grant Coordinator, Tina Gradizzi.
The city's 2011 entitlement was $326,731, down about 21 percent from 2010.
Gradizzi conducted the first of two public hearings in conjunction with the City Council meeting held Monday evening.
During the brief hearing, Gradizzi explained the CDBG program, in which federal funds are allocated from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to CDBG, which administered under the Pa. Department of Community and Economic Development.
