It looks like Mother Nature finally remembered that it is supposed to be wintertime in St. Marys. After a relatively mild winter so far, city residents had to deal with several inches of snow on Thursday afternoon and weather forecasts called for several more inches to accumulate overnight Friday into today.
On Thursday afternoon the snow started falling early in the afternoon and accumulations were noticeable around 2 p.m. According to St. Marys City Manager Dave Greene, city crews were called out to begin maintaining the roads at 5:30 p.m. He added that crews were back in action at 4 a.m. on Friday as well and were expected to be notified by 8 p.m. that evening if they were going to be called back out at 4 a.m. today.
