'The Clinic' at Walmart offering basic healthcare services
FOX TWP. - Those seeking treatment for basic healthcare services may now utilize “The Clinic at Walmart," a newly opened facility operated by DuBois Regional Medical Center (DRMC) in affiliation with DuBois Regional Medical Group, inside the Walmart Supercenter located along the Million Dollar Highway.The clinic provides convenient, affordable access to basic healthcare services, seven days a week, with no appointment necessary. Hours for the walk-in care facility are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. No appointments are needed or taken.For busy people who need care, especially after working hours or on weekends, the clinic will treat common health ailments and offer routine services. These include, but are not limited to: "get-well" services, such as respiratory illnesses, sinusitis, coughs, earaches/infections, insect bites and stings, cold sores, minor burns/sunburn, minor sprains/strains, seasonal allergies, shingles, stomach cramps, urinary tract infections, minor wounds and bladder infections; "stay-well" services, such as physicals for adults and students; diagnostic tests, including pregnancy, strep and drug screenings and tuberculosis skin testing; flu vaccines and tetanus; and ear wax removal, minor wound care and suture removal."We made a commitment to the St. Marys area because of the building we're building and our physicians up there. With emergency rooms across the country packed with people needing a wide range of care, we felt "The Clinic" seemed like a good fit," said John Brennan, director of corporate communications and community relations.Costs for each service are listed on a menu board at the front of the clinic, most ranging from $25 to $59. Insurances can be billed if it is an insurance already accepted at DRMC.The Clinic's setup features a small waiting/ receptionist area, two exams rooms and a doctor's area in the rear. Space alloted for the clinic was utilized from a portion of the adjacent optometrist's office. “By joining with Walmart to operate The Clinic at Walmart, DRMC is improving access to health care for the Elk County community,” said John Sutika, president of DRMC. “Our clinic is staffed with licensed healthcare providers, even on nights and weekends, so families can walk in and know they will receive quality care without a long wait.”Dr. Michael Hall and Dr. Robert Schmidt are the clinic's medical directors, providing oversight of the clinicians; however, the doctors are not seeing patients at the clinic.
