The Northwest Savings Bank office in downtown St. Marys is highlighting various area groups through their Community Banking Month event, and this Friday the St. Marys Heritage Preservation Group will be featured. In addition to having a display set up inside the bank throughout the day on Friday, Andrew Mohney, head of the group's Facebook committee, will be on hand from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. to answer questions and provide information about the group and its current and future projects.
The idea for the St. Marys Heritage Preservation Group came about two years ago as part of an effort to try to restore some of the character and charm to St. Marys' downtown area. The group's mission is to "advocate for, build awareness of, and encourage the conservation of the cultural, historic, natural, recreational, and economic resources in the St. Marys Historic District."
