The Community Nurses 4th annual butterfly release, Whisper Your Wish to a Butterfly," will take place on Sunday, Aug. 5 at 4 p.m. at The Serenity Garden at Elk Regional in St. Marys.
Over 200 butterflies were released at last year’s event. Some butterflies stayed to visit for awhile as they took some time to rest on individuals like Shelley Dush, shown in photo, who attended to remember and honor her mother. Other fragile butterflies immediately took to the sky for their first flight as young and old participants watched in delight.
The public is invited to purchase a butterfly to commemorate a special occasion, to honor an important person in your life, or to remember those who have passed on. The butterfly release pays special tribute to those being remembered through a service that includes inspirational readings, beautiful music, the reading of names, and the live butterfly release. Proceeds from the event will help Community Nurses provide services to residents who are in need of Hospice care.
To purchase a butterfly, log onto www.communitynurses.org and print an order form under ‘special events’, or pick up a form at Community Nurses offices in St. Marys and Bradford, St. Marys Pharmacy, DD’s Bakery, BiLo in Ridgway and Johnsonburg, Emporium Pharmacy, Judi’s Place in Kane, Bennett’s Valley Pharmacy, and in the lobbies of Elk Regional Health Center and Pinecrest Manor. Orders must be received by July 31.
You do not have to sponsor a butterfly to attend this special event. All are encouraged to gather at The Serenity Garden on Aug. 5 at 4 p.m. to join in this celebration of remembrance. For more information, contact the Community Nurses at 781-4729.
