The pool is anticipated to be filled today and will be open, weather permitting, over Memorial Day weekend before opening for the summer on Saturday, May 31.

With the temperature rising and area youngsters counting down the days until the end of the school year, it is clear that it is almost summertime. One staple of summer for area residents is spending hot afternoons cooling off at the St. Marys Community Pool.
According to Pool Manager Greg Snelick, the wet weather this spring has made it difficult to complete some of the annual maintenance work at the facility, such as priming and painting, but the pool is on schedule to be filled today in advance of it opening for the season.
"It takes about a week for us to get the chemical balance and stuff in the water, and we need that amount of time in order to make sure everything is up and running properly," Snelick said.
While the official opening day for the pool is Saturday, May 31, the facility will be open over Memorial Day weekend–Saturday, May 24, Sunday, May 25, and Monday, May 26–from 1-5 p.m., weather permitting.
