Concerns over EQT well at Byrnes Run

August 21, 2014

JAY TWP. – Several Jay Township residents aired concerns over the EQT gas well to be installed near Byrnes Run at Thursday night's regular meeting of the Jay Township Board of Supervisors.
Residents are concerned that EQT, which was granted a permit to drill by DEP, will be drilling too close to the watershed.
Supervisor Jeremy M. Rippey said that he contacted DEP and was given a map of the watershed and all of its tributaries. The map shows that the well will be sufficient distance from all of the tributaries. A representative from EQT is expected to be at the next supervisors meeting to address the concerns of the residents.
