Clad in jeans and tie-dyed T-shirts, concert crooners will transport the audience back to the groovy 60s during the show entitled "What a Wonderful World - Music of the 60s".
The success of the group's shows is evident, as the Friday performance is already sold out, although a limited amount of tickets remain for the Thursday evening show. With advance sales only, tickets are available for purchase at The Village Peddler on Erie Avenue in St. Marys and Cliffe's and The Prescription Center on Main Street in Ridgway. Last year, the choir added a third show due to the overwhelming response.
The 50-member group is under the direction of choir director Gloria Almquist-Shull and co-director Lois Sadley, both of whom also sing with the choir.
Each Monday the choir gathers from 7-9 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Ridgway. The Concert Choir of Elk County was established nearly 12 years ago. Almquist-Shull has been the director for seven of those years.
Almquist-Shull and Sadley teamed up to choose the show's musical selections.
The concert is supported by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts through its regional funding partnership with Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA), which is administered locally by the Elk County Council on the Arts (ECCOTA). After purchasing a ticket, attendees must contact the Royal at 773-3153 by the end of today to provide their entree choice of stuffed pork chop, chicken marsala or baked fish.
