Congressman Glenn "GT" Thompson spoke to area residents at Gunner's Restaurant in St. Marys Friday evening on a multi-stop, multi-county campaign tour. Thompson said government spending must be reined in to alleviate the burden on U.S. citizens and that job creation is a priority. He has co-sponsored legislation in the U.S. house that would help facilitate career and technical training for adults to expand job opportunities, particularly in Elk and other rural counties he represents. He noted that the best way to learn how best to represent his constituents is to get out and hear what he has to say, as he is doing now. The next stop for the evening on his tour was in Clearfield County. Thompson,R-Howard, is running for his third term representing the 5th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
