Corbett responds to widespread drug abuse

July 20, 2014

RIDGWAY – During his weekend visit to Elk County, Governor Tom Corbett discussed the adverse impacts of drug abuse throughout the Commonwealth as well as a poor precedent being set by state leaders in Colorado.
"For the recreational use of marijuana, I'm against it as it's a gateway drug and it's been proven that way," he said. "They're having an increase of driving under the influence of marijuana [in Colorado] and in California I understand that elected officials think it's hurting the workforce."
During a recording Saturday evening for the "Talk of the Town" radio show with The Hound radio station owner Denny Heindl, the Ridgway philanthropist mentioned drug problems have hurt the local workforce as well, citing one company which was advertising open positions.
