Upon the opening of the City Council meeting, council dismissed for a brief executive session regarding legal matters, about which Mayor Sally Geyer stated that nothing was resolved. All members of council were present at Monday's meeting.
City Manager Dave Greene presented his report, during which he stated he attended a pre-construction meeting for the ATA Depot Street terminal building project on June 28.
Greene updated council on the parking garage project, explaining the city's portion of the garage is on schedule, nearing completion and should be finished by the end of July. He will tour the garage on Thursday to compile a punch list of last-minute small items to complete, including painting.
ATA plans on beginning construction on their terminal on July 15, after having to re-bid the project. According to Greene, it will take six months to complete the terminal, with seven contractors working together on the project.
Greene's reported list of events he attended this month included parking garage meetings held at the Depot Street job site on June 15 and July 13, a ribbon cutting for the new variety store on Erie Avenue on June 15, attendance at a PLCM conference in Erie with Councilman Steve Skok, an Elk County Tax Collection Committee meeting on June 29 in Johnsonburg and a conference call with Bob Ayoob in reference to funding for the parking garage.
Under legislative action, council approved a LERTA application for P/M National, located at 201 Grotzinger Rd., to complete an expansion project at the facility.
LERTA is the Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance Act Program, with the primary mission of improving the economic and business climate of specific residential and commercial districts by lessening the tax burden on new development.
The expansion will consist of a 28,120-square-foot addition to an existing industrial building, including a 125' by 200' production facility and a 104' by 30' office facility. The projected cost of the improvement is $825,000. Construction began in June.
