Council discusses managers report

The St. Marys City Council will assist St. Marys Water Authority customers, who may now drop off their payments at City Hall inside the Sewer Office. This service began July 1. Office personnel will not have access to customer's water accounts.
Under the manager's report, City Manager Dave Greene said he and Councilman Dan Hepner attended the annual Pennsylvania League of Cities and Municipalities. According to Greene, he toured the redevelopment area of downtown Pittsburgh during the event, while Hepner attended a seminar about Act 47 dealing with pension reform law, which proved to be a popular topic at the event. Greene and Hepner both attended a seminar about distressed townships.
"We have the same problems they do," Hepner said, referring to issues being faced by other cities and municipalities across the state.
Greene said he met with two city staff members, John Shaffer from Harley Architects and Henry Wolf from Fiore Contractors to complete a final punch list for the city's parking garage.
On July 9, Greene attended a meeting of the Elk County Earned Income Tax Committee to discuss the problems the city has encountered with its current income tax collector, CENTAX out of Allegheny County, and the procedures to correct the problems.
