County still waiting on SBA relief
RIDGWAY – Elk County residents may soon see some relief in the form of low-interest loans from the Small Business Administration (SBA) following a disastrous flooding incident that ravaged the area two weeks ago."The governor has since sent a letter to the federal government requesting the SBA declaration, and as of [Tuesday] morning we have not seen that come back to us yet," said Mike McAllister, director of Elk County's Office of Emergency Services. "Everything that we’re hearing and seeing, we’re pretty positive that we’ll see that declaration come down to us. Once that occurs then the federal government will come in and set up a service center location where the victims can meet with FEMA [Federal Emergency Management Agency] officials and look at SBA loans, and determine their eligibility and just exactly what they can do. Victims also will be able to do this online."
