Crash near visitor center in Benezette

BENEZETTE TWP. – Two Bradford residents suffered major injuries Saturday evening on Homestead Drive near the Elk Country Visitor Center.
The crash occurred on at 7:28 p.m. as a 2013 BMW K1500 GTL motorcycle, operated by Daniel S. Hushon, 40, of Bradford, was traveling south on Homestead Drive. Hushon reportedly passed another vehicle and lost control of the motorcycle. It exited the roadway and both Hushon and a passenger, Ashley J. Beckwith, 30, also of Bradford, were thrown from the motorcycle.
Police were assisted by Bennetts Valley Ambulance, Jay Township Fire Department and Medic 12.
Police report that helmets were not used. Both Hushon and Beckwith were transported to Altoona Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. Hushon is charged with careless driving. The investigation is ongoing.
