Crusader baseball edges Elkers 3-2 Saturday

April 21, 2013

Photo by Becky Polaski ECC senior Jack Herzing went the distance for the Crusaders on Saturday against the Ridgway Elkers, giving up three hits, walking one, and striking out 12.

It was a typical spring day in Elk County on Saturday, but baseball fans braved the chilly temperatures and snow flurries to take in an exciting game between the Elk County Catholic Crusaders and Ridgway Elkers at Berwind Park. The Crusaders took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second but then the Elkers fought right back to go ahead 2-1 in the top of the third, and the score remained that way until the bottom of the sixth when ECC pushed through two more runs and held on to come away with the 3-2 win.
