The Elk County Catholic Crusader golf squad picked up a pair of wins on Wednesday afternoon as they defeated the Johnsonburg Rams and the Kane Wolves in a tri-match held at the St. Marys Golf Club. Elk Catholic won the match with a score of 211. Johnsonburg had a score of 219, while Kane had a score of 260. The match featured eight golfers from Elk Catholic, five from Johnsonburg and six from Kane; however, only the top five scores from each team counted for the match.
Johnsonburg's Cameron Grumley was the overall medalist for the day with a two-over-par round of 37. Elk Catholic was led by Brandon Schlimm with a 39, while Kane's squad was led by Ryan Greto with a 47.
Elk Catholic's Jess Jaynes finished the day with a 42, followed by teammates Mitchell Struble and Bruno Cavalline with 43s and Elliott Struble with a 44. Other Crusader scores were Drew Meyer and Kristy Hanes with 46s and Ben Reuscher with a 53. Mitchell Struble also recorded a hole-in-one on the par-three #4 hole, using a seven iron to drive the ball 159 yards.
Following Grumley for the Johnsonburg Rams were Calvin Christoff with a 38, Nathan Burgeson and Luke Shreffler with 47s and J.P. Allegretto with a 50.
Following Greto for the Kane Wolves were John Bedford with a 48, Koden Thompson with a 53, Dan Park with a 55 and Austin Woolcock with a 57. The other Kane score was a 58 by Trace Gordon.
The Crusaders will return to action this afternoon when they face off against St. Marys Area at the Bavarian Hills Golf Course in a match slated for 3:30 p.m.
