The Elk County Catholic High School Crusader Marching Band has a crowd-pleasing new score for this year's halftime show and performance season.
The group will be performing "The Best of ABBA," a medley of top hits from the Swedish band known worldwide to audiences of all ages. The songs they will perform are "Dancing Queen," "I Have A Dream," "Mamma Mia," and "The Winner Takes it All."
Ray Knight, ECCH's longtime marching band director, says this year's material seems to have students especially enthusiastic.
"It was the first time I have been band director there that the kids have all of the music memorized the first week of band camp," said Knight, who has been directing band students since the mid-1980s. "We’ll perform a piece and kids that are up there working in the summer or the maintenance staff or custodial staff will stop and applaud and say, 'Hey we like the music.' That’s happened off and on before, but it seems like everybody’s enjoying it this year.
