David A. Benson Sr.

David A. Benson Sr., 71, of 482 Silver Creek Rd., Johnsonburg, died on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born on Dec. 17, 1940 in Johnsonburg, son to the late Arthur and Louise Polinski Benson.
On Aug. 2, 1963 he married Julia Kasmierski, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, having graduated from the Johnsonburg High School in 1958. He was employed by PennTech Papers in Johnsonburg for 40 years before retiring in 1998.
He was also a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Johnsonburg.
Besides his wife at home, he is survived by a son, David A. Benson Jr. and his wife Linda of Johnsonburg; two daughters, Pamela, Mrs. John Wayne Douglas of Johnsonburg and Janine, Mrs. Dennis Thorwart of Fort Mills, S.C.; six grandchildren, Theresa, Mrs. Timothy Johnson, Andrew, Chelsea and Kevin Benson, and Rachel and John Douglas; one great-grandson, Cameron Johnson; four sisters, Ethel Steudler and Betty Benson, both of Johnsonburg, Zelphia, Mrs. Harrison Beardsley of Erie, and Nancy, Mrs. David Anderson of Meadville.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Neal Thorwart; and two brothers, Wallace and Alfred Benson.
Private funeral services will be conducted for David A. Benson Sr. at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, with the Rev. Stephen Fair, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will take place at Oakmont Cemetery in Ridgway.
Visitation will be private.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home.
