David J. Mohr

David J. Mohr, 72, a longtime resident of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. and a former resident of Hudson, Ohio, died August 4, 2013.
He was born December 23, 1940 in St. Marys, son of the late Joseph and Susanna Mohr.
He graduated from St. Marys Central Catholic High School in 1958, and attended the University of Pittsburgh.
He enjoyed a loyal career of 49 years as a sales engineer for the Stackpole Carbon Company. He was also a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard, and was honorably discharged in January 1968.
The Boy Scouts of America was an integral part of his life. He was an active scout in his youth, and became an Eagle Scout in Troop 95, St. Marys. As an adult, he remained active with BSA, and was the Troop Committee Chair, Troop 1022 Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; District Chair, North Trails District, Detroit, Mich.; on the Scoutmaster training staff for five years; District Camporee Staff for 12 years; and a Winter Camporee Coordinator. He received the St. George and Silver Beaver Awards in honor of the religious education and service he gave to the Boys Scouts. Other awards he received include the Ad Altare Dei Award, District Award of Merit, and he was a member of the Order of the Arrow. His most proud achievement, however, was mentoring his three sons as they became Eagle Scouts.
He was active with other clubs and associations. He was a train enthusiast, and a charter member of the Lakeshore Garden Railroad Club. He was President of the Jaycees in Hudson, Ohio, and was instrumental in starting the Hudson Springs Park. He was also a parishioner and usher at St. Regis Catholic Church and a member of Plum Hollow Country Club.
He will always be remembered as a very helpful and giving person. He was a person who could always be counted on to help with projects and odd jobs.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shelia; three sons, Christopher (Lisa), Gregory (Angela), and Bradford; three grandchildren, Conner, Gavin, and Sydney; and two sisters, Edith Robacker (Francis), and Susan Latham (James).
A Funeral Mass for David J. Mohr will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Regis Church, 3695 Lincoln at Lahser Rd., Bloomfield Hills, Mich. Visitation at the church begins at 10:30 a.m.
