During the weekend of Jan. 17-19, DDCC of April School of Dance traveled to Pittsburgh to take classes and compete at the DanceMakers, Inc. convention and competition. The company earned adjudication awards as well as overall awards for each of their 22 dances choreographed by artistic director Jennifer Blankenship of Kane and her sister Chelle Blankenship. The judges picked three dances out of 250 performances they wanted to see danced again. DDCC's "Lemonade" was awarded a "Dance AGAIN" and was performed at the convention's WrapIt Ceremony. Jennifer Blankenship was awarded the Marjorie Perry Spirit Award in honor of her contribution to dance. Pictured are the dancers with their award trophies along with Jennifer Blankenship. The Minion costumes were made by Gerry Scholder of St. Marys. DDCC's next competition will be VIP dance from Feb. 15-16 in Akron, Ohio.
