Dennis M. Rakieski

Dennis M. Rakieski, 61, of 951 German Settlement Rd., Ridgway, died Monday, November 7, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center as the result of a logging accident.
He was born June 14, 1950, in Ridgway, the son of Alex and Ida Schmiedel Rakieski. On August 21, 1971, he married Marcelyn Withrow, who survives.
Mr. Rakieski was a lifelong Ridgway resident. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Ridgway Sportsmen's Club. He graduated from Ridgway Area High School, Class of 1968, and from Williamsport Area Community College in 1970. He was a self-employed logger.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Daniel Rakieski (Lori) of St. Marys, Scott Rakieski of Sacramento, California, 8 grandchildren, Mitchell, Alex, Danielle, Adam, Erik, Lauren, Dean, and Gabriel Rakieski, all of St. Marys; 4 brothers, Joe Rakieski (Becky) of Ridgway, Rob Rakieski (Penny) of Ridgway, Ken Rakieski (Karen) of Gifford, James Rakieski (Marion) of Frenchville; and by a sister, Brenda Carter of Pittsburgh.
He was predeceased by his parents and by a son, Gary Rakieski.
Funeral services for Dennis M. Rakieski will be held in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Ridgway, on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Erik Hart, pastor. Interment will be in Oakmont Cemetery, Ridgway.
Friends will be received at the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home, Ridgway, on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
