Department hosting Recovery 2014 at carnival

July 7, 2014

Photo submitted Volunteers completely restored the bingo barn at the carnival lot and built new benches after they were destroyed by the May 21 flood.

The Ridgway Fire Department is hoping community members will use this year's carnival as a celebration of sorts as the area continues to recover from the May 21 flood that ravaged the town, particularly the borough of Ridgway.
"We've all had it rough with the flooding that we experienced," said firefighter Frank Quattrone. "At a directors meeting we mentioned that with the pool being held up a few weeks, the flood, and the YMCA going through their renovations, we really want to make this year's carnival nice for our community and county. We're hoping everything goes well."
The department is calling Monday night, July 14 at the carnival "Recovery 2014" in an effort to celebrate Ridgway's recovery from the flood.
