District 9 tennis doubles tournaments set for Tuesday

The District 9 Class AAA and AA girls’ tennis doubles tournaments are scheduled for Tuesday at the DuBois Area High School courts.
The Class AA tournament is scheduled for an 8:45 a.m. start for the quarterfinals. The quarterfinal match-ups are as follows: Johnsonburg’s Laura Stahli and Taylor Scida will take on St. Marys Area’s Jamie VanAlstine and Brandi Meyer. Elk Catholic’s Crystal Hanes and Ally Brock will meet Brockway’s Mackenzie Bart and Abigail Larson. Brittany Johnson and Chelsea Facchine of Brockway will take on Johnsonburg’s Chelsea Benson and Krista Jacobs. Allison Shields and Mary Rosman of St. Marys will meet Megan Fritz and Loreal Housler of ECCHS.
The semifinals are scheduled for 11:15 a.m., with the finals set for a 2 p.m. start.
The Class AAA tournament is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. with two quarterfinal matches. Hillary Buck and Tori Hallstrom of Clearfield will meet Emma Stafford and Kristina Torretti of DuBois. The winner of that match will meet Bradford’s Jodi Irons and Caroline Morris in the semifinals, which are set for an 11:15 a.m. start. The other quarterfinal match will see Suzanne Colesar and Sierra Grice of Clearfield taking on Hope LaRoche and Suzi Sager of Bradford. The winner of that match will meet the DuBois Area duo of Jenny Reese and Alexis DeNapoli at 11:15 a.m. in the other semifinal. The finals are scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
The winner of each tournament advances to the PIAA doubles tournament scheduled for Nov. 5 and 6 at Hershey.
Team tournaments
The District 9-AA team tournament is scheduled to open today when Brockway, the third seed, travels to Elk County Catholic, the second seed, for a 3 p.m. match. The winner of that tournament will take on the top-seeded St. Marys Area Lady Dutch on Monday, Oct. 18, at a site and time to be announced.
The Class AAA championship will be played on Monday, Oct. 18, between top seed DuBois Area and second seed Bradford Area at a site and time to be announced.
