The Elk County Conservation District voted unanimously Monday to approve an extension for wetland mitigation at the new Bennetts Valley Senior Center, located at 149 Plum St. in Weedville.
The permit for the mitigation plan was extended to June 2012.
"They don't think they will be able to complete the program in a timely manner because the new facility has not yet been constructed," said Elk County Conservation District Chairman Russ Braun. "Many factors can impact this decision, including on whether an item is out of our control; therefore, they are requesting an extension for June of 2012, at that time the project should be completed with the permanent vegetation in place."
