District approves personnel issues

The St. Marys Area School District Board of Directors approved several personnel issues at this month’s regular meeting.
All employment recommendations are provisional for 30 days pending receipt of Act 151 and Act 34 clearance documentation and pre-employment drug testing if applicable.
The board approved a 2.5 percent increase for cafeteria salaries for the upcoming school year.
Thomas Timashenka of St. Marys submitted his resignation as a school psychologist effective June 30, 2011.
Support personnel resignations were accepted from: Gloria Brunelli of St. Marys as a cafeteria worker, effective Aug. 22; Daniel Carnovale of Johnsonburg as a tutor, effective July 17; Lorraine Gerber of St. Marys as a cafeteria worker, effective June 3; Melissa Leathers of Weedville as a tutor, effective July 27; Chelsea Mulcahy of St. Marys as a tutor, effective July 8; Benjamin Schneider of Weedville as a facilitator, effective June 22; Victoria Surra of Kersey as an LPN/secretary, effective July 15; Cindy Uveges of St. Marys as a cafeteria worker, effective July 27; and Rita Wiesner of St. Marys as a cafeteria worker, effective Aug. 31.
The following transfers of professional personnel were approved: Stacy Brem of St. Marys as a teacher at St. Marys Area High School to Fox Township Elementary, effective Aug. 22; Mary Kay Candalor of St. Marys as a teacher at S. St. Marys Street Elementary to a Title 1 reading position, effective Aug. 22; Theresa Dahl of St. Marys as a school nurse at SSMSE to a health-related technology teacher at the high school, effective Aug. 22; Robin Johnson of Brockport as a high school special education teacher to the supervisor of special education at a rate of $62,000 per year, effective Aug. 22; Susan Lepovetsky of St. Marys as a teacher at St. Marys Area Middle School to Fox Twp. Elementary, effective Aug. 22; Martha Philippone of DuBois as a teacher at Fox Twp. Elementary to a Title 1 reading position, effective Aug. 22; and Kara Vickery of St. Marys as a teacher at Fox Twp. Elementary to a teacher at SSMSE, effective Aug. 22.
Support personnel transfers included: Barbara Bartlett of St. Marys as an EAP tutor/support staff to an ISS monitor/facilitator at the high school, effective Aug. 23; Monica Dragich of Kersey as an EAP tutor at the middle school to a classroom aide at Fox Twp. Elementary, effective Sept. 6; and Kathleen O'Leary of St. Marys as a special education aide at Fox Twp. Elementary to the same position at SSMSE, effective Aug. 23.
Also hired was Samantha Walters of Eldred as a deaf/hearing teacher at a rate of $27 per hour, effective July 5. She holds a bachelor of science in education and is certified as a teacher of the deaf/hard-of-hearing. She is based at the middle school and was a former IU9 teacher.
The following support personnel were hired: Candice Eckert of St. Marys as a Title 1 tutor at a rate of $10 per hour, effective Sept. 6; Tabatha Pomeroy of DuBois as a Title 1 tutor at a rate of $10 per hour for 5.5 hours per day for 135 days, effective Sept. 6; Katelyn Swanson of Kersey as a Title 1 tutor at a rate of $10 per hour for 5.5 hours per day for 135 days, effective Sept. 6; Hannah Stebick of St. Marys as a facilitator at a rate of $10 per hour, effective Aug. 23; Kyle Baker of St. Marys as a cafeteria worker at the middle school, effective Sept. 2; Betsie Nelson of Weedville as a cafeteria worker, effective Aug. 23; and Melissa Sharrow of St. Marys as a cafeteria worker, effective Aug. 23.
