Donald M. Buttery

Donald M. Buttery, 82, formerly of 121 Fleming Rd., St. Marys, died Thursday Dec. 1, 2011 at the Pinecrest Manor.
Born Jan. 2, 1929 in St. Marys, he was a son of the late Percy and Florence Anzinger Buttery. On Aug. 19, 1954 in Sacred Heart Rectory, he married the former Esther Dallasen, who died May 13, 2002.
Mr. Buttery was a graduate of St. Marys High School, had worked at Stackpole for more than 50 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, The American Legion, National Rifle Association, the Saddle Pals motorcycle gang and the Beagle Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII. He was also a member of the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail and loved gardening, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Kay Buttery of Boston, Mass., and Candice L. (Timothy J.) Eckert of St. Marys; a son, Thomas A. (Lynn M.) Buttery of St Marys; three grandchildren, Hannah M. Eckert, Sophia Rose Buttery and Maximus James Buttery; a brother, Eugene (Percy) Buttery of St. Marys; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Buttery, and a sister, Doris Ehrensberger.
Friends of Donald M. Buttery are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Monday in the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Christopher Kindle, pastor, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials, if desired, may be made to the Veterans Monument or the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
