Northwest Savings Bank recently made a donation to the Elk County Sheriff's office on behalf of the women's handgun training program.
"The training program is conducted by a partnership of the Elk County Sheriff's office, the National Rifle Association and the Ridgway Rifle Club," said Elk County Sheriff Jeffrey C. Krieg. "The classes are usually held twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall."
The classes are conducted by deputy sheriffs Shawn Geci Sr. and John Gangloff, along with other members of the sheriff's department.
The course is offered to all women who are Elk County residents and have procured a Pennsylvania license to carry a firearm.
