Donation for 'Women on Target' gun safety program

December 29, 2012

Steve Caggeso, right, representing the Ridgway Moose Lodge, recently presented a $200 donation to the Elk County Sheriff's Department for their Women on Target program. Sheriff Jeffrey C. Krieg, left, said the program is offered approximately twice a year in conjunction with the Ridgway Rifle Club and the National Rifle Association. The program is conducted free of charge to women who are recipients of a Pennsylvania license to carry firearms and who also own firearms. They are taught through classroom time and hands-on shooting. In addition, they are taught to disassemble and clean their personal sidearm, with the emphasis on safety and protection both inside and outside the home.
