Doris A. "Sorgie" Celin, 79, of 140 East Oilwell St., St. Marys, died on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Hamot Medical Center in Erie following a brief illness.
She was born March 3, 1933 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Sebastian and Margaret Deth Sorg.
On October 23, 1953 in St. Mary's Church, she married Anthony M. Celin, who survives.
Mrs. Celin was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, where she was very active as a volunteer.Â She graduated from SMAHS, Class of 1951.Â She retired after many years as a secretary for the district magistrate.Â She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband of 58 years, Anthony M. Celin, she is survived by a son, Joe Celin and his wife Vickie of Bethlehem; a daughter, Amy, Mrs. Ron "Butch" Meier of St. Marys; five grandchildren, Kristin and Tony Celin, and Sara, Donnie and Aaron Meier; a sister, Louise Withington of St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Sorg of St. Marys; and several nieces and nephews, including three very special ones, Gail Shturtz, Gloria Banks and James Zernell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Antoinette "Toni" Celin; four brothers, Martin, Alfred, John and Thomas Sorg; and eight sisters, Esther Hannibal, Marie Lang, Matilda DeWald, Bernice Ray, Rita Samick, Mabel Zernell, and Helen Solic, and one sister in infancy, Magdalena Sorg.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Doris A. Celin will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 325 Center St., St. Marys, on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at noon, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, O.S.B., as celebrant.Â
Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael St., St. Marys, on Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
