Doris M. Tahara

Doris M. Tahara, 86, of 225 Parade Street, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh following an illness of the past few days.
She was born September 3, 1924 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Arthur "Stub" and Bertha Tyler Fritz.
On May 25, 1946 in Cresco, she married the late Dr. Charles T. Tahara, who was a noted urologist in the area. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1966.
Mrs. Tahara graduated from Central High School and then from the St. Vincent School of Nursing. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and a former member of the Nurses' Study Club.
She is survived by four daughters, Libby, Mrs. Marty Herbstritt of Wilcox, Sandy, Mrs. Terry Miller of California, Nancy Tahara of Hawaii, Joan, Mrs. John Wylie of Pittsburgh; two sons, Charles "Louie" Tahara of Kersey, Dr. Martin Tahara and his wife Dr. Caroline Tahara of Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Alex, Rachel, CJ, Hannah and Lily; and a brother, Dennis Fritz and his wife Mary Ann of St. Marys.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur "Boots" Fritz.
Funeral services for Doris M. Tahara will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 North Michael Street, St. Marys, on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m.
